How Lavender, Tea Tree and Hempseed Oil can help relieve Eczema Prone Skin

September 08, 2015

The #1 Skin Problem in Children and Adults

The number one question that I am asked across all social media platforms is “What can I do for eczema and dry skin?” This was the same question I was asking myself 3 years ago. My son suffered from eczema so extreme that it caused his hair to fall out and he was sent home from school several times due to chicken pox like bumps on his legs. This started the weekly visits to the doctor to get strong chemical-laced eczema cream to clear his skin for the moment but it never really healed his eczema (most times returning to wreak havoc on his skin the following week ).  I knew I had to give him relief from his itchy, bumpy and dry skin but also from the chemical toxins from the prescribed medication. After much research, I discovered that Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oil has been used for centuries to treat dry and eczema prone skin. This is when I decided to give the essential oils of Lavender and Tea Tree a chance to soothe his eczema.

Lavender essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, calming, hempseed oilmoisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties. It speeds up healing and prevents or reduces scarring of the skin. It is one of the best oils to treat skin issues such as Eczema, Psoriasis, Acne and dry patches of skin and it smells great. Tea Tree essential oil also has antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties to help heal the skin. Most essential oils are best used diluted so as to not dry the skin. I began to incorporate these two oils in my body butters and soaps.  I created our Frosty body butter and Bliss soap, both contains lavender and tea tree essential oil, I began to apply to him daily during and after taking a bath. The bumps and dry skin did not disappear overnight. After applying for about 2-3 weeks daily, I began to notice the bumps were disappearing and his skin was healing. After 2 months, the scars on his legs from multiple eczema outbreaks began to fade and the outbreaks that had been occurring weekly were almost non-existent.

Hempseed Oil, the almost "Perfect" Oil

Fast forward to today, my son has smooth scar-fee skin. Almost daily use of lavender and tree oil inserted in body butters, salves and soaps have solved his skin issues; no more scratching and scarred skin. On our journey, we also discovered Hempseed Oil. Hempseed oil has been beneficial in zapping out an outbreak before it gets too severe.hempseed oil and beeswax Hempseed oil is rich with omega-6 and omega-3, which are essential fatty acids that our bodies need. These essential fatty acids, or EFAs, help maintain good skin health by keeping cell hempseed oil to heal eczemamembranes flexible.  Essential fatty acids also help fight acne, minimize scarring, relieve pain and inflammation, and moisturize dry skin. They also contain antifungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties which help to keep skin healthy.

I currently have two products that deal directly with eczema prone skin, Frosty Body Butter, and our newest Hemp Heal healing salve. Hemp Heal is a salve, an infusion of oils and butters with medicinal essential oils with a base of beeswax.
